Dusty Miller 'Colchester White'

This shrubby perennial with luminous foliage and light pink blooms may become one of your favorites

I know what you’re thinking… dusty miller? Just another ho-hum annual. But let me tell you, ‘Colchester White’ isn’t like any dusty miller you’re familiar with. It gets 3 to 4 feet across and 3 feet tall, and it’s perennial.

Actually, it’s not really even that closely related to the bedding plant we commonly call dusty miller. This perennial is a member of the same genus as bachelor buttons, Centaurea. I fell for this plant the first time I saw it five years ago, and it has been one of the most popular plants in our trial garden and display beds at the Dallas Arboretum.
